The beech needs to be controlled, and it seemed a good idea to see if it can control the knotweed. Some of the ones we transplanted are eight feet tall, and it'll be interesting to see how much umbrage they take from being so abused.

Using the waste product of one management project to manage another appeals to me. We also stuck in loads of willow cuttings in the wetter part of the knotweed patch.

A good afternoon's planting with cost-free planting stock.

Pictures at Picasaweb:
https://picasaweb.google.com/115681751243956396306/TaliesinAGM2012

Epilogue to 2011 Spring Gathering

http://www.swcwt.org/1/post/2011/04/epilogue-to-2011-spring-gathering.html

http://www.swcwt.org/1/post/2011/04/epilogue-to-2011-spring-gathering.html#comments

Uncategorized

A Brilliant time was had by loads of folk. Pictures coming. display: block; ">Woodlanders was a project conceived and developed by Reforesting Scotland to promote its vision for a restored landscape supporting a woodland culture. People are at the heart of this vision and are the heart and soul of this book. Ideas were drawn from archive material from the Reforesting Scotland Journal and from Reforesting Scotland's living network of people who are active in woodlands in all kinds of ways. The stories were collected by Sam Bridgewater, Heather Kiernan, Fiona Martynoga, Ray Penman and Fay Young. Many people, including authors, photographers and artists, contributed their time, expertise, writing or images free, or at a less than commercial rate, and without this support publication would have not been possible. Ian Edwards, who at the time was one of Reforesting Scotland's directors, managed the project on behalf of Reforesting Scotland and was the book's overall editor.

The book is filled with articles about people working or playing with woodlands, wood or woodland products in Britain. It covers wooden buildings, harvesting wild products, art and crafts, working with groups and the community woodland movement. In over forty personal stories we learn of the lives of people who are part of the resurgence of interest in woodland matters that marks the 21st century. Woodlanders contains both inspiring stories and a generous supply of gorgeous photographs.

"2010 Autumn gathering and festival

http://www.swcwt.org/1/post/2010/10/2010-autumn-gathering-and-festival.html

http://www.swcwt.org/1/post/2010/10/2010-autumn-gathering-and-festival.html#comments

Uncategorized

Video moments Simon's Pictures Ed's Pictures [...]

Video moments
Simon's Pictures
Ed's Pictures
Godfrey's pictures

Blacksmithing, bowmaking, shave horses, pole lathes, Raku pottery, kids' activities, fleece and peg looms, good food, good company, music, more...Another wonderful time at Taliesin

If you want to be kept "in the loop" let Jools have your email: Email her:joolscox@tiscali.co.uk

Photos of the AGM now posted

http://www.swcwt.org/1/post/2010/01/photos-of-the-agm-now-posted.html

http://www.swcwt.org/1/post/2010/01/photos-of-the-agm-now-posted.html#comments

Uncategorized

Ed's photos of the AGM on 10th January can now be seen on the Winter 2009/2010 Gallery page.
