Hazel Fest Easter courses 2nd - 4th April 2010
We'll plant some hazels and there will be a mix of activities so you can come for a whole day or three days choose one activity or do a mix of activities
You can book for one, two or three days Cost £45 per day £75 two days or £110 for the 3 days –price includes tuition, materials, lunches and camping. Children half price (family concessions please ask)

Building a geodesic dome
Learn to make a Geodesic Dome - a dome shaped structure made from hazel that can be covered in polythene to be used as a growing area, or canvas/felt for a living/camping space

Building a huge hazel/ willow structure
The course will be run by Trevor Leat local willow artist who has made, among other things, the annual Wickerman, Edinburgh New year sculpture and the floating Tam O Shanter at the Dumfries Burns celebration. This will be a collaborative piece to be set in the trees at Taliesin, participants will also be able to make their own (smaller) sculpture to take home if they wish.

Raft Making
For children and adults alike, find ways to build a raft that will float on Lake Taliesin. Races and other challenges may well follow! Led by Jem Cox
Peg Loom rug making
Using a simple loom to make a mat or rug from local fleeces. Ideal for sitting by the fire in the evening, sitting on during the day or even (if its large enough) sleeping on at night.
Making a small basket for proving bread

Outdoor cooking including bread and nutty things

Previous courses at Taliesin have included stone carving, bushcraft, lantern making, green wood carving/ stool making, bow-making, wood carving, paper making, coracle making and coffin making.
